Cloud Infrastructure Engineer @ Delta Defense

Salary: $85,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require applicants to be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S., as we are unable to sponsor or transfer visa sponsorship at this time.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• We are looking for 2–5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles.
• You should have hands-on experience operating Kubernetes clusters in production, including secure multi-tenant setups.
• Experience developing and supporting CI/CD pipelines and using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform is needed.
• Strong containerization expertise, including image hardening, optimization, and security practices, is expected.
• You should bring solid Linux administration and systems troubleshooting skills.
• Proficiency in Python or a similar scripting language for infrastructure automation is required.
• Working knowledge of networking, Kubernetes security, and deployment methods such as rolling, blue-green, or canary releases is important.
• Practical experience with load testing and performance analysis is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• We design, deploy, and manage production Kubernetes clusters, including scheduling, quotas, network policies, ingress and egress controls, and RBAC.
• We develop and maintain declarative deployment approaches using Helm, Kustomize, and Kubernetes operators.
• We build and improve CI/CD pipelines using infrastructure as code and GitOps practices, including version-controlled changes, automated checks, and rollback plans.
• We provision and administer infrastructure with tools such as Terraform or Crossplane, following best practices for immutability, idempotency, and state handling.
• We create secure, efficient container images using multi-stage builds and vulnerability scanning, while managing image versioning and promotion across environments.
• We implement observability tooling with solutions such as Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry, and support SLIs, SLOs, and effective alerting.
• We conduct load testing and resilience validation to guide performance tuning, failure analysis, and capacity planning.
• We perform Linux system administration, including hardening, troubleshooting, and OS-level performance tuning.
• We support stateful services such as Postgres, MySQL, Redis, and Kafka, including backup and restore planning and performance considerations.
• We take part in on-call rotations and incident response, contributing to root cause analysis and ongoing reliability improvements.
• We document architecture, operational runbooks, backup and recovery procedures, and infrastructure lifecycle plans.
