Senior Platform Engineer - Kubernetes @ Execusource, Inc

Salary: $129,000 - 139,000 per year

Requirements:

• We are looking for candidates who meet the following qualifications:

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in software development, DevOps, or platform engineering roles.

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes design, build, and deployment in a production environment.

• Proficient scripting and automation skills, with the capability to write scripts from scratch.

• Experience working with internal infrastructure, including bare metal or on-premises Kubernetes.

• Strong knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Go, Bash, or similar.

• In-depth understanding of Kubernetes internals, including networking, service mesh, RBAC, and persistent storage.

• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools, like Terraform or Ansible.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capability to work independently.

• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across various teams.

Responsibilities:

• In this role, I will expect you to:

• Lead the design and implementation of a self-managed Kubernetes container platform on our internal infrastructure, rather than a cloud-based solution.

• Develop platform components that focus on orchestration, networking, observability, storage, and security.

• Define and create templated Kubernetes solutions that can be deployed across different business units.

• Write automation scripts and tools from the ground up, preferably using Python, though Go and Bash are also acceptable.

• Collaborate with engineering and architecture teams to customize solutions for enterprise scalability.

• Work closely with various departments to gather requirements and provide platform capabilities as a service.

• Stay informed about emerging container technologies and champion best practices.

• Contribute to internal documentation and assist other engineering teams in the platform's adoption.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our ongoing growth and the implementation of our container-first policy. We seek a Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer to help shape the foundational architecture of a standardized and scalable Kubernetes-based container platform for enterprise-wide use across all business units. This role is not focused on the administration or maintenance of Kubernetes but rather on building and deploying the first iteration of this significant platform. We greatly value candidates with a software engineering background who have transitioned into DevOps, platform engineering, or infrastructure roles, especially those who have practical Kubernetes experience.

We are open to candidates willing to relocate to Atlanta, with case-by-case relocation assistance and a sign-on bonus available. Moreover, we are willing to sponsor qualified candidates. The interview process will consist of three rounds, including a hiring manager screening, a technical panel with engineers and architects, and a leadership interview. Local candidates may have the opportunity to attend the second round onsite.
