Cloud Automation Engineer

We support a critical U.S. Coast Guard government system as GovCIO and are hiring a Cloud Automation Engineer for our Kearneysville, WV hybrid team. In this role, we focus on delivering secure, mission-ready cloud orchestration and self-service automation across VMware Aria Automation and VMware Cloud Foundation technologies. The position offers a posted salary range of USD $110,000 to USD $135,000 per year.

- We require a high school diploma or equivalent experience, along with 9+ years of relevant professional background.
- We require an active Secret clearance.
- We require DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification, such as Security+ CE, CySA+, or CCNA Security.
- We require 5+ years of hands-on experience using JavaScript and REST APIs, particularly with Infoblox DDI and Tenable Security Center, to build cloud automation solutions.
- We require demonstrated experience designing, deploying, and administering automated workflows with VMware Aria Automation/VCF Automation.
- We require strong proficiency in building, tailoring, and sustaining orchestration workflows in VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator/VCF Operations Orchestrator.
- We require solid operational knowledge of VMware vSphere and VCF environments, including VM lifecycle management, capacity allocation, and cluster operations.
- We require experience integrating automation processes with ServiceNow through APIs to support ITSM routing, fulfillment, approvals, and ticket handling.
- We require a strong working understanding of enterprise virtualization, IP networking, core infrastructure services, network boundaries, and storage systems.
- We prefer prior support experience on U.S. Coast Guard or Department of Homeland Security programs.
- We prefer VMware certifications such as VCP-VVF Admin, VCP-VCF Admin, VCP-VCF Architect, VCP-DCV, or VCP-Cloud Management.
- We prefer familiarity with software-defined networking and VMware NSX concepts, including switching, routing, firewalls, and load balancing.
- We prefer knowledge of Kubernetes and experience automating containerized workloads with vSphere Kubernetes Services, also known as Tanzu, integrated with VMware Aria Automation.
- We prefer exposure to AWS and Microsoft Azure, hybrid cloud environments, and multi-cloud provisioning integrations.

- We design, deploy, and administer self-service catalogs and cloud provisioning blueprints using VMware Aria Automation/VCF Automation.
- We build, customize, and maintain complex orchestration workflows in VMware Aria Automation Orchestrator/VCF Operations Orchestrator to automate routine operations.
- We analyze, map, and document end-to-end workflows across compute, networking, storage, and security domains.
- We integrate automation capabilities with enterprise services such as Infoblox DDI, Tenable Security Center, and ServiceNow using JavaScript and REST APIs.
- We maintain the underlying VMware vSphere and VCF platform to enable automated provisioning, resource management, and virtual machine lifecycle control.
- We ensure all automated deployments and self-service functions align with federal security standards, government configuration baselines, and DISA STIG requirements while supporting vulnerability remediation.
- We monitor platform health and performance, investigate provisioning and workflow issues, and perform root cause analysis when failures occur.
- We create and uphold detailed documentation for configurations, blueprints, operational procedures, and standard operating procedures.
