Salary: $115,199 - 145,000 per year
Requirements:- We require U.S. citizenship and the ability to be processed for a U.S. Government security clearance; current Secret or TS-level clearance is also acceptable.
- We are seeking someone with 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering or Software Development using Python or Go, paired with a bachelors degree in a related field; alternatively, 3 years of relevant experience with a masters degree, or a high school diploma/GED with 9 years of relevant experience.
- We need hands-on experience with operating system deployment and orchestration tools such as kickstart, Ansible, or Puppet.
- We require experience deploying and administering Kubernetes, or a vendor-specific Kubernetes distribution.
- We are looking for familiarity with container build tools such as Docker or Podman, along with Kubernetes automation utilities like Helm, Kustomize, or Flux CD.
- We expect solid programming ability in Python or Go.
- We need a strong working knowledge of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, and applications, plus proficiency in shell scripting such as Bash.
- We require excellent troubleshooting ability and a track record of solving complex technical issues efficiently.
- We expect strong verbal and written communication skills.
- We require the ability to travel to San Antonio, TX approximately 3–4 days every three months.
- We require the flexibility to work in a hybrid model, including an average of 1–2 days per week in our Columbia, MD office.
- Preferred qualifications include an active Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
- Preferred experience includes OS and container hardening using standards such as STIGs, CIS benchmarks, or PCI compliance.
- Preferred candidates will have experience building and deploying infrastructure in AWS.
- Preferred experience includes creating automation within CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab CI, Travis CI, or Jenkins.
- Preferred candidates will understand agile development practices and common collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, and GitLab.
- Familiarity with DISAs Big Data Platform or other large-scale data systems such as Cloudera CDH Hadoop, MapR Hadoop, Databricks, or Apache Spark is a plus.
- DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications may be required depending on customer direction.
- We design and deliver core software architecture and capabilities from prototype through operational deployment.
- We develop custom software components and integrate open-source code to solve complex big data and cloud challenges.
- We contribute to cloud platform engineering efforts with a focus on AWS-based solutions.
- We evaluate existing codebases for opportunities to improve robustness, performance, and overall effectiveness.
- We define, build, and manage virtual infrastructure in the cloud using infrastructure-as-code and modern automation tools.
- We work independently to identify issues, diagnose problems quickly, and implement practical solutions.
- We align our technical work with broader architectural and strategic objectives set by our team architects.
- We collaborate in a hybrid environment and contribute to a strong, high-performing engineering team.
