Job Description

We are JPMorganChase, one of the oldest financial institutions, serving millions of consumers, small businesses, and prominent corporate, institutional, and government clients through the J.P. Morgan and Chase brands. With more than 200 years of history, we are a global leader in investment banking, consumer and small business banking, commercial banking, financial transaction processing, and asset management. We offer a competitive total rewards package with salary based on role, experience, skills, and location, plus potential incentive compensation and a broad range of benefits such as health coverage, wellness centers, retirement savings, backup childcare, tuition reimbursement, mental health support, and financial coaching. We are committed to diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity, and our Global Technology Infrastructure team provides a stable, resilient, secure environment where innovative and business-focused technology solutions can thrive. This is a high-risk role that requires enhanced pre-hire screening.

- We expect formal training or certification in infrastructure engineering, alongside at least 5 years of practical experience.
- We need demonstrated use of enterprise-approved AI capabilities in infrastructure workflows, with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
- We require the ability to assess AI-assisted recommendations carefully, escalate when needed, and ensure outcomes meet resiliency, security, and auditability standards.
- We look for strong storage fundamentals, including RAID or erasure coding, replication, snapshots, tiering or caching, IOPS and latency, multipathing, SAN/NAS, and object storage concepts.
- We want hands-on experience with at least one major storage platform or cloud storage service such as NetApp, Dell EMC PowerStore/Isilon, Pure, Hitachi, Ceph, or IBM.
- We require solid Linux knowledge, including system performance, basic networking, and kernel or storage stack concepts.
- We need strong scripting or programming skills in one or more of Python, Go, or Bash.
- We expect experience with observability tooling such as Prometheus/Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, Splunk, Datadog, or OpenTelemetry.
- We value proven incident management ability and confidence working in an on-call rotation.
- We look for practical AI and data skills for operations, including anomaly detection, forecasting, correlation, classification, feature extraction, evaluation, production tooling integration, and safe LLM use with human oversight.
- Preferred experience includes Kubernetes storage and stateful workload operations.
- Preferred experience includes Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
- Preferred experience includes telemetry and event pipeline tooling such as Kafka.
- Preferred experience includes ITSM or event management platforms such as ServiceNow.
- Preferred experience includes backup and disaster recovery strategy design, including RPO and RTO trade-offs.
- Preferred experience includes security controls for data platforms, such as KMS, HSM, secrets management, and key rotation.
- Preferred experience includes building controlled self-service platforms with guardrails to reduce toil at scale.

- We use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to speed up infrastructure analysis and design documentation while validating outputs and handling operational data according to security requirements.
- We apply reuse-first, AI-assisted practices in delivery and automation to identify recurring issues, validate remediation options, and ensure changes remain traceable, auditable, resilient, and secure.
- We own and continuously improve SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, on-call readiness, and operational excellence for storage services.
- We lead incident response for storage outages and performance degradation, then drive root cause analysis and preventative actions.
- We create and maintain runbooks, escalation paths, and standardized operating procedures.
- We operate and enhance block, file, and object storage platforms across on-premises and cloud environments.
- We perform performance tuning, capacity planning, lifecycle management, and resiliency testing, including failover and disaster recovery validation.
- We partner with infrastructure, network, operating system, database, and application teams to meet workload requirements and reliability targets.
- We build automation for provisioning, patching, upgrades, replication, backup and restore, and compliance checks.
- We implement AI-driven observability and AIOps capabilities such as telemetry correlation, anomaly and regression detection, and LLM-assisted incident and runbook workflows with safe rollout and auditability.
