Lead Software Engineer - DevOps Architect

This role is part of a highly technical team focused on modernizing and sustaining a containerized microservices environment, with an emphasis on secure, scalable, and resilient platform engineering.

- We require an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
- We require a Bachelors degree with at least 9 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate degree with at least 7 years of related experience, or 13 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
- We are looking for strong expertise in DevOps engineering, platform architecture, or software architecture for distributed systems.
- We need proven experience designing and delivering Docker-based solutions and microservice architectures.
- We value experience creating detailed architectural documentation, technical design artifacts, and engineering decision records.
- We expect a solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, infrastructure as code, and automated deployment methods.
- We seek hands-on experience with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, or similar platforms.
- We require knowledge of system integration, API design, service-to-service communication patterns, and secure platform engineering practices.
- We want demonstrated technical leadership, including guiding architecture discussions, supporting implementation teams, and setting technical direction.
- We need excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain architecture tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical audiences.

- We lead architecture and design initiatives for Docker-based, microservice-driven systems that support mission-critical applications.
- We create detailed architecture plans, interface specifications, deployment models, and technical decision documentation for distributed environments.
- We define and uphold architecture standards, engineering best practices, and DevOps patterns across the full development and release lifecycle.
- We drive technical choices related to containerization, orchestration, service communication, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, security, and observability.
- We collaborate with software engineers, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity specialists, and program stakeholders to align solutions with mission objectives and operational limits.
- We guide the development of build, release, deployment, and monitoring approaches for microservice-based platforms.
- We assess performance, reliability, scalability, and security needs, then recommend architectural enhancements.
- We provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, design reviews, risk identification, mentoring, and decision support for engineering teams.
- We develop roadmaps and execution strategies for platform modernization, environment standardization, and long-term sustainment.
