Senior AI Platform Engineer (API Expert) @ Lockheed Martin

Salary: $90,000 - 130,000 per year

Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience
• Experience developing and supporting production backend services in a modern programming language such as Python, Go, Java, or C#
• Experience designing, building, and running REST APIs in a production environment
• Experience deploying and operating containerized services on Kubernetes
• Experience working collaboratively across teams to deliver software from concept through production
• Must be a U.S. citizen

Responsibilities:

• Build and evolve our internal AI Factory platform as a platform-focused AI engineer
• Design, implement, and maintain high-performance REST APIs that support AI model orchestration and resource handling
• Deliver full-stack capabilities, including responsive React/Next.js interfaces and scalable Python/Go backend services
• Help shape AI platform architecture so our internal services remain modular, easy to discover, and ready for LLM, RAG, and agentic workflows
• Use AI coding assistants and custom LLM agents in our development process to reduce boilerplate, create tests, and support early code review
• Create middleware that connects Kubernetes infrastructure with user-facing applications by simplifying technical complexity
• Improve data flow across front-end dashboards, backend metadata stores such as PostgreSQL and Redis, and GPU-enabled compute clusters
