Job Description
We are seeking a motivated, mission-oriented DevOps Engineer in the Chantilly, VA area to manage our Atlassian tool suite (Jira and Confluence) and perform infrastructure management, automation, and troubleshooting across our IT environment. As the DevOps engineer responsible for the Atlassian suite, I will manage Confluence to ensure each person on a project team has access to all materials needed. I will assist with architecting, designing, and building Atlassian JIRA/Confluence custom plugins based on customer requirements and projects. My primary goal is to automate repetitive tasks, reduce manual intervention, and improve the overall user experience, quality, and reliability of software.
- Bachelor’s Degree and 5 or more years of experience, or high school diploma/GED and 7 or more years of relevant experience.
- Familiarity with administering DevOps applications like Jira, Confluence, or Bitbucket.
- Familiarity with Database administration and JVM tuning.
- Active Security+ certification.
- Occasional travel, up to 25% CONUS.
- Must possess an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance.
- I plan, schedule, implement, and communicate JIRA & plug-in upgrades in accordance with requirements and established policies & procedures.
- I architect, administer, and troubleshoot JIRA deployments & projects, focusing on providing a platform for Housing units to administer, track, and report on department-wide projects & issues.
- I manage Jira to include onboarding new projects onto the platform, configuring the layout, design, workflow, and reporting dashboards.
- I analyze current JIRA configurations & migrate to new instances, code, test, and debug new software/applications, or make enhancements to existing software/applications.
- I create complex JIRA workflows, screens, permission, and notification schemes and provide/configure JIRA for manual processes.
- I work independently with stakeholders & clients to design & deliver JIRA workflows to meet both stated and unstated business requirements.
- I gather requirements for business processes and determine ways to optimize/improve JIRA/Confluence/Bitbucket, building and configuring as needed.
- I understand JIRA APIs and webhooks and implement custom XML-based JIRA gadgets.
- I generate documentation on workflows & processes implemented in JIRA to support runbooks.
- I have a working knowledge of ITIL Operations Management & Service Management.
- I develop monitoring and observability capabilities to ensure workloads function as expected.
- I provide the right resources to users and manage upgrades and improvements to the software.
- I handle infrastructure management and automation through code, as well as general troubleshooting and issue resolution.
- I develop automated processes to [re-]provision infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and methods.
- I provide IaC support in a predominantly Windows environment, including supporting Active Directory, Domain Controllers, FTP, DNS, GPOs, PKI, and DHCP.
