Principal Cloud Engineer - Azure

We are MANTECH, and we seek a driven and experienced Principal Azure Cloud Engineer to join our team in Chantilly, VA. In this pivotal role, you will help us design, implement, and manage secure Azure cloud infrastructures vital for mission-critical operations, emphasizing security monitoring and threat detection. This position offers the opportunity to work in innovative cloud environments, utilizing modern DevOps tools and fostering collaboration across teams to solve technical challenges.

- Bachelors degree or 4+ years of IT experience in lieu of a degree
- 7+ years of experience in cloud computing, primarily focused on Microsoft Azure
- Proven record in designing and deploying Azure solutions, with proficiency in DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or Git
- Strong command of Infrastructure as Code tools including ARM templates, Terraform, Ansible, or BICEP
- Familiarity with cloud template technologies like Azure Resource Manager, GitHub Enterprise, GitLab, and architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman
- Experience in automating workflows using scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, YAML, JSON, or Ansible
- DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification (e.g., CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, CND, SSCP) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Current/active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph

- Support Azure cloud services and infrastructure utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or ARM templates
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues within Azure cloud environments
- Implement best practices for Azure security
- Leverage Azure data services such as Azure Monitor, Azure Logging Analytics, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Sentinel, and Azure Policy to maintain security posture and compliance
- Write and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, or Azure CLI, executing them through services like Logic Apps, Azure Automation, and Azure Functions
- Configure network security groups (NSGs), application gateways, and other network controls to safeguard cloud resources
- Manage Azure compute, storage, networking, and database services
- Apply security best practices and compliance standards while collaborating with teams to tackle complex technical challenges
