Cloud Platform Developer (AWS CDK, Java) @ Mutual of Omaha

Salary: $115,000 - 150,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require 5+ years of hands-on development experience in an object-oriented language, with TypeScript strongly preferred.
• We require experience writing Java code.
• We look for experience in at least two of the following areas: infrastructure as code, containerization with Docker, databases, message/data streaming, or GitHub/GitHub Actions/Git for version control.
• We value experience building shared libraries, reusable constructs, or internal platform services used by other engineering teams.
• We expect experience with distributed cloud platform configuration, deployment, and lifecycle automation tools.
• We look for a solid understanding of cloud security and compliance.
• We want experience building and managing cloud services by automating and orchestrating complex processes with Infrastructure as Code in a single-cloud environment.
• We require the ability to work remotely with a high-speed internet connection and be located in the United States or Puerto Rico.

Responsibilities:

• We write production-grade TypeScript with AWS CDK to design, build, test, and maintain infrastructure as code for public cloud environments.
• We build and maintain shared construct libraries and platform services consumed by engineering teams across the department.
• We serve as cloud subject matter experts, guiding development teams and helping them troubleshoot platform and code-level issues.
• We configure and manage common cloud services in production environments.
• We collaborate across teams to identify delivery bottlenecks and drive platform improvements.
• We apply software engineering best practices, including code reviews, unit testing, design patterns, and clean architecture, to infrastructure code.

We are Mutual of Omaha, and we are hiring a Cloud Platform Developer Engineer to support Workplace Solutions. This is a remote role with periodic in-person attendance required for quarterly planning, project planning, training, or other business-critical meetings. We offer a competitive compensation package, including an estimated salary range of $115,000 to $135,000 for Engineer II or $130,000 to $150,000 for Engineer III, plus annual bonus opportunity, along with a 401(k) plan featuring a 2% company contribution and 6% match, vacation, personal time, and paid holidays.
