Cloud Engineer (GCP) @ Sysco

Salary: $120,000 - 160,000 per year

Requirements:

• We require at least 3 years of relevant experience in public cloud administration, specifically with Google Cloud Platform.
• We prefer 5 years of experience or more.
• We look for strong hands-on knowledge of GCP infrastructure, services, and database solutions, including private or internal access technologies, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Cloud Spanner, Dataflow, and Dataproc.
• We need proven experience architecting, designing, implementing, and managing cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments.
• We prefer a bachelors degree in Computer Science or a closely related field, though equivalent work experience may be accepted.
• We require Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert and AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional certifications.
• We prefer certifications such as GCP Certified Cloud Engineer, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, GCP Cloud Architect, and VMware Certified Professional.
• We value working knowledge of native cloud technologies and automation tools such as Jenkins, Terraform, Chef, and Cloud Custodian.
• We expect scripting and automation experience using CLI tools and languages such as Python, Bash, and PowerShell.

Responsibilities:

• We lead the delivery of Google Cloud Platform data architecture in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• We design, deploy, and operate highly available, scalable cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform.
• We partner with stakeholders and application teams to interpret business needs, shape cloud architecture solutions, and provide operational support.
• We develop and maintain cloud data migration strategies, including gap analysis, remediation recommendations, and infrastructure implementation planning.
• We safeguard the security, availability, and performance of GCP resources through sound design and configuration.
• We implement and fine-tune cloud infrastructure components such as virtual networks, private service access, storage, databases, compute, and identity and access management.
• We define and enforce cloud governance standards, including tagging, access control, and cost management.
• We monitor, diagnose, and resolve GCP infrastructure issues to maintain high availability and performance.
• We stay current on GCP and cloud technology trends and recommend improvements for ongoing optimization.
• We collaborate with data architects, developers, network administrators, security specialists, and cloud providers to ensure seamless solution integration.
• We work with DevOps and infrastructure-as-code tools including GitHub, Jenkins, Docker, and Terraform.
• We ensure infrastructure, data, application, and configuration security and compliance across our environment.
• We develop scripts and automation where appropriate to improve efficiency.

We are hiring a Cloud Engineer for a hybrid role with on-site presence required 3 to 4 days per week, with the number of on-site days increasing as business needs evolve. You will join agile Scrum teams and help strengthen our cloud capabilities at Sysco, contributing to secure, scalable, and reliable solutions across our Google Cloud Platform environment.
