Job Description

Salary: $68,000 - 108,000 per year

Requirements:
  • We need 5-6+ years of hands-on experience building and running production workloads on AWS, with strong expertise in Elastic Beanstalk, EKS, EC2, RDS, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, and Secrets Manager.
  • We need 3+ years of practical Kubernetes experience, ideally in production EKS, including Helm, kubectl, ingress controllers such as ALB or NGINX, HPA, and troubleshooting pods, services, and networking.
  • We require production experience with ArgoCD or Flux, including app-of-apps design, multi-environment promotion, and resolving GitOps drift.
  • We need strong Azure DevOps Pipelines experience using YAML for builds, multi-stage releases, variable groups, service connections, and hosted or self-hosted agents; strong experience with another major CI/CD tool is also acceptable if Azure DevOps can be learned quickly.
  • We need solid Docker expertise, including multi-stage image builds, image hardening, and publishing to ECR.
  • We require production-level infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform preferred, or CloudFormation/CDK.
  • We need database familiarity and the ability to work closely with DBA teams on RDS for SQL Server and PostgreSQL, connection strings, secret rotation, and migration cutovers.
  • We require Linux administration skills across RHEL, Amazon Linux, or Ubuntu, along with bash scripting.
  • We need strong Git knowledge, including branching strategies, pull request workflows, and disciplined code review practices.
  • We require excellent written communication skills to produce runbooks, architecture diagrams, and clear pull request documentation.
  • AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer Professional are preferred.
  • CKA or CKAD certification is preferred.
  • Experience migrating .NET and Java applications from on-premises environments to AWS is preferred.
  • Experience with containerized COTS products is preferred.
  • Familiarity with service mesh technologies such as Istio or App Mesh, or with API gateways, is preferred.
  • Exposure to HashiCorp Vault, certificate management, and secret rotation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with observability tools such as DataDog, New Relic, or Splunk, in addition to native AWS monitoring, is preferred.
  • Experience with blue/green and canary deployment strategies is preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • We will lead AWS platform configuration and CI/CD automation for a large-scale enterprise cloud migration program.
  • We will configure and fine-tune Elastic Beanstalk environments across Dev, Test, and Prod, including platform versions, scaling policies, environment variables, and rolling deployments.
  • We will design, provision, and operate Amazon EKS clusters for containerized workloads, including node groups, cluster autoscaling, ingress, and namespace strategy.
  • We will provision and secure EC2 or cloud VM environments, including AMI selection, instance sizing, operating system setup, and patching strategy.
  • We will partner with the DBA team to set up Amazon RDS for SQL Server and PostgreSQL, including parameter groups, subnet groups, backups, and Multi-AZ design.
  • We will design VPC networking, security groups, IAM roles and policies, KMS keys, and Secrets Manager integration using least-privilege principles.
  • We will build reproducible infrastructure as code so every environment is auditable and consistent.
  • We will design and implement Azure DevOps build and release pipelines for multiple migration patterns, including Elastic Beanstalk, EKS, EC2, and in-place upgrade workflows.
  • We will implement GitOps for EKS workloads using ArgoCD or Flux, including pull-based deployment, drift detection, and multi-environment promotion patterns.
  • We will establish promotion controls from Dev to Test to Prod, including approvals, gates, and rollback paths.
  • We will standardize reusable pipeline templates so application teams can onboard services consistently.
  • We will integrate security and quality checks such as static analysis, container scanning, SAST/DAST hooks, and artifact provenance.
  • We will configure CloudWatch logs, metrics, alarms, and dashboards for each workload.
  • We will define SLOs, alert thresholds, and incident response runbooks for production cutovers.
  • We will create architecture decision records, runbooks, and operational procedures for long-term support.
  • We will maintain a clean, version-controlled IaC repository as the source of truth.
  • We will collaborate daily with application teams, the AWS Infrastructure Team, the DBA Team, and technical leads.
  • We will pair with developers to troubleshoot cloud issues such as cold starts, container OOMs, RDS connectivity problems, and IAM denials.
  • We will mentor application developers and administrators on cloud-native practices.
