This DevOps Engineer role is based onsite in Ft. Belvoir, with occasional travel, and offers an estimated salary range of $115,199 to $160,000 depending on location, experience, skills, and qualifications.
- We require a current TS/SCI U.S. Government security clearance and U.S. citizenship.
- We are seeking someone with 5+ years of DevOps engineering or software development experience plus a bachelors degree in a related field; or 3 years of relevant experience plus a masters degree; or a high school diploma/equivalent plus 9 years of relevant experience.
- We need strong expertise in Kubernetes or another container orchestration platform.
- We need solid hands-on experience with AWS services, including EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, and Lambda, for infrastructure deployment and management.
- We require proficiency with configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- We look for experience with application, container, and operating system deployment, scaling, and administration.
- We expect the ability to develop in multiple languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.
- We value familiarity with Git, Flux, and related build and release tooling.
- We require comfort working in a terminal-based environment.
- We need strong Linux knowledge, including administration and troubleshooting.
- We expect excellent analytical skills and the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
- We require strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- We look for understanding of Agile software development practices and standard development tool suites.
- We require DoD 8140/8570 compliance certification, such as Security+, or the ability to obtain it before starting.
- We require the ability to work on customer site in Ft. Belvoir, VA five days per week, with occasional travel as needed.
- We need flexibility to adapt to schedule changes.
- We require willingness to help open and close the workspace during regular business hours as needed.
- We prefer experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Accumulo, Ceph, Spark, NiFi, Kafka, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, Hive, Drill, Impala, Trino, and Presto.
- We consider experience with K9s, AWS CLI, and additional AWS services such as SNS, SQS, and Diode a plus.
- We support the design and deployment of cloud infrastructure in AWS, with emphasis on EKS.
- We support the deployment of edge infrastructure using on-premise and portable equipment.
- We automate release processes to improve reliability and scalability.
- We manage and maintain Kubernetes containers and AWS-based cloud environments.
- We collaborate with development teams to integrate their applications into our infrastructure.
- We monitor production systems, diagnose issues, and restore service when problems arise.
- We continuously refine processes and tools to improve uptime and performance.
- We stay informed about emerging technologies and industry developments to strengthen our infrastructure.
- We perform other duties as assigned.
