Senior Infrastructure Architect

We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Platform Architect to join our EIS Middleware Branch as part of the INF Automation & DevOps project. This pivotal role will focus on enhancing Economic Infrastructure Services (EIS) and the ECON Survey Systems through advanced platform engineering, infrastructure automation, and migration tasks. Our ideal candidate will work extensively with containerization and Kubernetes orchestration in on-prem VMware and BareMetal environments, while also integrating hybrid cloud solutions across AWS and Oracle Cloud. This position is primarily remote, but occasional in-person collaboration in the Washington, D.C. Metro area may be necessary, especially during initial onboarding and crucial project phases.

- Bachelors degree in Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- Over 5 years of experience with server platforms including VMware, vSphere, Oracle Cloud, and AWS Cloud
- At least 2 years of DevOps/CI-CD experience with Terraform or Infrastructure as Code, Git, and Jenkins
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with containerization platforms such as Docker, AWS ECS, and Kubernetes
- A background of 2+ years in operational support for both on-prem and cloud environments
- Over 3 years of experience with Ansible Playbooks, Ansible Tower, BitBucket, and RHEL
- Desired skills in OpenShift or AWS EKS, AWS API Gateway, RESTful API support, and various cloud services including Lambda, Glue, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, Step Functions, Airflow, S3, and Aurora
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Certified Terraform Associate, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect, CompTIA, or CISSP (active, expired, or in-progress accepted)

- Execute platform re-engineering and cloud-first enablement of multi-node Kubernetes and VMware clusters
- Assist with containerization and hybrid cloud infrastructure projects
- Provision BareMetal and virtual servers in AWS and Oracle platforms for Survey Systems
- Upgrade and maintain both BareMetal and hypervisor-based virtual clusters
- Create Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using containerization, serverless, and cloud-native services
- Automate infrastructure provisioning employing Terraform, Git workflows, Jenkins, IaC, and Bash scripting
- Manage multi-node platform architectures, including Karpenter-enabled Kubernetes clusters
- Facilitate Amazon Machine Learning models for Computer Vision and Deep Learning initiatives
- Support the modernization of physical and virtual machines to align with changing business requirements
- Provide operational support across both on-prem and cloud infrastructures
