Job Description
We are partnering through hackajob with J.P. Morgan for this role. This is a Lead Software Engineer opportunity within our Consumer & Community Banking Customer Platform team, where we build trusted, market-leading identity and onboarding solutions in a secure, stable, and scalable way. The role focuses on designing and delivering a shared identity platform that supports customer onboarding, identity verification, and trust services across multiple products and lines of business. We offer a competitive total rewards package, with base pay determined by role, experience, skills, and location, and eligible roles may include commission or discretionary incentive compensation. Our benefits can include comprehensive health care, wellness support, retirement savings, backup childcare, tuition reimbursement, mental health support, and financial coaching. We value diversity and inclusion, provide reasonable accommodations where needed, and serve customers through a broad range of financial services within our Consumer & Community Banking division.
- We have experience developing workflow orchestration and policy-driven journey engineering.
- We have hands-on experience with event-driven architectures, such as Kafka or similar streaming platforms, including publishing, consuming, and schema governance.
- We can design reusable component libraries with composable primitives that scale across business-unit variations without duplicating the underlying implementation.
- We have front-end development experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, or similar technologies.
- We bring experience in CI/CD pipeline engineering and deployment automation.
- We have experience defining and maintaining service contracts and API boundaries in multi-team environments.
- We have experience translating regulatory or compliance requirements into policy-as-code engineering controls.
- We have experience with distributed tracing and observability across multi-service journey execution.
- We have demonstrated experience leading the effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, while setting clear expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- We understand responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resilience and security expectations, and we have coached engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
- We will build the Identity Onboarding Orchestrator, a configurable, policy-aware workflow engine that manages the full onboarding journey and ensures compliance checks are completed before a journey is marked finished.
- We will design configurable journey frameworks that give product teams the right level of control without fragmenting the core implementation.
- We will define and enforce RBAC using the line of business as the organizational namespace and role boundary, protecting separation at the data model level.
- We will build and maintain event-driven integrations and streaming patterns that decouple journey outcomes from downstream dependencies and support regulatory changes through a single update.
- We will own observability across multi-service journey execution, including distributed tracing, SLOs, and alerting to reduce time to isolate failures from hours to minutes.
- We will create developer-facing SDKs, API documentation, sandbox environments, and integration templates so line-of-business teams can build and deploy compliant identity journeys without engineering dependency.
- We will support migration to a platformized model by creating migration playbooks and adapter tooling that move product teams off legacy bespoke services in weeks rather than quarters.
- We will drive adoption of enterprise-approved AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, while maintaining consistent validation standards and encouraging reuse of effective patterns.
- We will apply knowledge of the SDLC toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value delivered by automation.
