Job Description
We are offering a flexible position, and the selected candidate may need to report to our Greensboro, NC office at least part of the time each week. This is a hands-on senior individual-contributor role for an experienced operations leader who will bring structure, accountability, and technical depth to cloud service operations. We are seeking someone to own our operating model for platform operations, documentation, incident and change processes, HA/DR posture documentation, operational readiness for new services, vendor performance management, and service-level accountability. The role will help enable our onshore and offshore technical teams supporting a 24x7x365 environment, coordinate with our vendors and service teams, and ensure our cloud services are operationally ready with clear runbooks, monitoring, alerting, auditability, logging, escalation paths, and support expectations in place.
- At least 6 years of experience working on projects that involved implementing solutions using development life cycles such as SDLC
- At least 4 years of experience in a technical leadership role, with or without direct reports
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, CIS, or a related discipline, plus at least 10 years of experience in software development or a related field; equivalent work experience may be considered in place of the degree
- Strong background in cloud operations, incident and change management, documentation, operational readiness, service-level accountability, and vendor performance oversight
- Experience working with onshore and offshore technical teams, as well as partnering with L1/L2 support vendors and L3 escalation teams
- Ability to lead complex technical initiatives, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and translate business needs into actionable requirements
- Familiarity with DevOps, Waterfall, and Agile practices, along with resilient, secure, high-volume cloud-based solution delivery
- Lead multiple workstreams by assessing customer and operational needs, defining procedures and policies, securing cross-functional support, setting standards, tracking progress, and removing obstacles
- Provide leadership, mentoring, coaching, and feedback to promote collaboration, learning, and effective performance across teams
- Recommend and champion complex technical solutions that satisfy design and functional requirements
- Partner with architects and software consultants to turn functional specifications into scalable, maintainable solution designs
- Offer technical guidance for the development, configuration, and modification of integrated business and enterprise application solutions
- Translate business requirements into program designs, code modules, stable application systems, and software solutions in partnership with Business Analysts and other team members
- Build and sustain trusted relationships with internal customers, vendors, and senior leaders to align stakeholders and secure support
- Oversee the review and implementation of technical solution recommendations across multiple functions
- Define and govern interfaces, methods, parameters, procedures, and functions so technical solutions align with architectural standards
- Shape data management and information architecture strategies that support secure information storage, sharing, and publishing
- Set strategies for effective database use and provide expert guidance on database architectures, tools, and facilities
- Support project teams throughout the release cycle of business and enterprise software solutions
- Advise teams on complex incident response and serve as an escalation point for unresolved technical issues
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends and best practices through conferences, networking, and ongoing professional development
- Ensure new and existing software solutions are designed and delivered in line with industry best practices, strategies, and architectures
- Review resource estimates for complex design, coding, and testing efforts
- Help ensure resilient, secure, multi-channel, cloud-based solutions are delivered using DevOps, Waterfall, and Agile practices
