- BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with a coding background (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent practical experience.
- Familiarity with algorithms, data structures, scripting, pipeline management, and software design principles.
- Systematic problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and a proactive attitude.
- Proficiency in debugging and optimizing code, and automating routine tasks.
- Experience managing complex stakeholder interactions while making prompt decisions.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as C, C++, Java, Python, Go, Perl, or Ruby is preferred.
- Keen interest in designing, analyzing, and resolving issues in large-scale distributed systems.
- An eagerness for change and advancing automation; ability to collaborate across development, operations, and product teams.
- Knowledge of industry-standard CI/CD tools such as Git/BitBucket, Jenkins, Maven, Artifactory, and Chef is desired, alongside the ability to design effective CI/CD flows for high-quality and efficient code deployment.
- Engage in all phases of service lifecycle—from inception and design through deployment, operation, and enhancement.
- Analyze IT service management (ITSM) activities related to the platform and provide constructive feedback to development teams regarding operational gaps or resilience issues.
- Offer support for services pre-launch through tasks such as system design consulting, capacity planning, and launch reviews.
- Oversee live services by monitoring and measuring availability, latency, and overall system performance.
- Ensure sustainable scaling of systems through automation and advocate for system changes that enhance reliability and speed.
- Facilitate the application CI/CD pipeline by promoting software into higher environments through validation and operational controls; lead automation and DevOps best practices within Mastercard.
- Practice a sustainable approach to incident management and conduct blameless post-mortems.
- Adopt a comprehensive problem-solving strategy by synthesizing information during production events across various components of the technology stack to optimize recovery times.
- Collaborate with a global team distributed across multiple tech hubs and time zones.
- Mentor junior team members and share knowledge effectively.
