Job Description
We are Specialty Systems, Inc., and we support Government customers and national security mission requirements with secure, reliable platform solutions for defense and intelligence programs. This role is based at our customer site and follows a compressed work schedule that creates a three-day weekend every other week. - We prefer a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, though equivalent hands-on experience may substitute.
- You must hold an active Secret clearance, or be able to obtain and maintain one.
- You should bring at least 5 years of experience in Linux systems administration and engineering, ideally in RHEL environments.
- You need Security+ CE certification, or the ability to earn it within 3–6 months of joining us.
- You must have strong experience administering and engineering Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
- You should have practical scripting and automation skills with Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar tools.
- You need experience with container and orchestration platforms such as Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
- You should be familiar with DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipeline integration.
- You need working knowledge of networking fundamentals, Linux security, and infrastructure operations.
- You should have experience applying and maintaining STIG compliance and RMF security controls.
- You must have strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- You need excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- You must be able to collaborate effectively in Government and contractor team environments.
- Preferred experience includes supporting Navy, NAVAIR, or DoD programs.
- Preferred certifications include RHCSA or RHCE.
- Preferred experience includes enterprise Kubernetes or OpenShift environments, cloud infrastructure, virtualization, and highly regulated or classified environments.
- We design, implement, and sustain Red Hat Enterprise Linux platform environments across development, test, and operational settings.
- We automate provisioning, configuration management, deployment, and documentation using infrastructure-as-code tools.
- We administer Linux systems, including hardening, patching, upgrades, and lifecycle support.
- We support containerized platforms using Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
- We integrate platform services into DevSecOps pipelines and CI/CD workflows.
- We implement and maintain security controls that align with DoD cybersecurity standards, including STIGs and RMF.
- We monitor performance, diagnose platform issues, and help ensure reliability, scalability, and availability.
- We manage storage, file systems, and system resources to improve performance.
- We support virtualization and cloud environments such as VMware, OpenStack, AWS, or similar technologies.
- We collaborate with software, systems engineering, cybersecurity, and test teams to enable integration and operational readiness.
- We maintain system documentation, architecture diagrams, configuration baselines, and technical procedures.
- We identify technical risks and contribute to modernization and continuous improvement efforts.
